A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE RIVERS HQ

Rivers Dance Centre is a well-established dance studio that was founded in 1986 by Antonia Erskine, a respected ballerina. Antonia continues to mentor and coach classical examination students and teachers at the studio to this day.

Initially located in the LODGE 241 building, the studio later moved to Bowra Street, where Antonia built her own studio called “Rivers Ballet Studio” In 2005, Peter Stock, known for his Dance festival “Stamping Ground” became the principal of the studio and brought his expertise in jazz, musical theatre, and contemporary styles. In late 2011, Meryn Jones joined as a co-Principal after returning from Sydney. In 2014, Meryn renamed the studio “Rivers Dance Centre 86” to commemorate the year of its establishment. In 2016, the studio moved to a new space at 85 Hyde St, which revitalized the atmosphere and placed it in the heart of town.

Jade has been a part of Rivers Dance Centre since 1999 and has cherished memories of the Bowra Street studio and the teachers, including Antonia, Peter, and Meryn. In 2012, Jade left Bellingen to pursue further dance training and explore various places. However, she returned in 2020 and has played a significant role in the studio’s growth over the past three years. With Meryn’s trust and support, Jade, along with her partner Rob, took over the reins of Rivers Dance Centre in 2023 and carry on the beloved legacy of the studio.
